Box Office Preview: "Inside Out 2"

Movies are back! After a struggling April and May leading to horrendous headlines and discourse about the future of movies, we are close to return to normal. At least for the time being. Bad Boys: Ride or Die showed that audiences will show up. A great opening domestic and overseas for a $100M+ worldwide opening. That was the warmup. The real monster arrives this weekend with Inside Out 2. The Pixar sequel to the critically acclaimed Inside Out (2015) that become a financially success grossing $356M domestic and $857M worldwide. The fourth biggest movie of the year. Despite that people have been cautious for this sequel. Disney had an horrible 2023 and saw there movies bomb after bomb with the exception of Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 3. Fear not all signs indicate Inside Out 2 will deliver. Pre-sales have been slowly but surely amping up nicely. Initial projections pegged the movie for a great $85M opening weekend. That in itself would have been terrific. However, this movie...

Inside out 2 Review

Inside Out 2 is coming out in a time of crisis for many. The box office has struggled and Pixar as a brand has not been hitting the usual home runs. The catastrophic performance of "Lightyear" was a strain on the brand. Elemental opened horrible but had an unprecedented recovery to a respectfull box office haul for an original film. Even so with a respectful box office run, Elemental struggled to endear critics. While audiences enjoyed the movie, Pixar has a reputation of quality that has been away lately. Furthermore, the release of 3 Pixar movies straight to Disney + didn't help matters either. All the above have created a downward perception of the brand. Inside Out (2015) is one of the best reviewed movies ever with an 98% on RT and 94 on Metacritic. The pressure for Inside Out 2 was therefore enormous. Happy to report that Inside Out 2 does deliver. A movie that gives everything you expect from the Pixar brand. Great animation and storytelling of the highest level....

Inside Out smashes Thursday Night Preveiws - heading for $115-120M debut

Watch out! Disney is back. Pixar smashed Thursday night previews with an estimated $13M. As for now the movie is guaranteed to hit a $100M. The only question is how far it can go. The movie won´t be frontloaded as you can see with MCU movies, another famous brand under the Disney umbrella. 92% RT and 95% verified score indicates great WOM. Father´s day on Sunday will also be a boost. Cinemascore arrives tomorrow but nobody is expecting anything but an A there. The movie is going to have open runaway to July before Despicable Me 4 arrives. By that time we might be looking at an $400M+ grosser but let´s not get to far down the track. With an horrible performance of Lightyear and Elemental having an horrible opening this is pleasant news for the Pixar Brand. Yes it belongs to the story that Elemental recovered but this is the first time the brand has had an major opening since Toy Story 4.
